Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • Do I need a Doctor's Prescription for Physical Therapy

In Georgia, all non-Medicare patients may be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without a physician prescription for up to 8 visits, or 21 days.  Beyond this time frame, if the patient requires continuation of physical therapy treatment, a physician prescription will be required.  If the patient does not have an appropriate medical provider, our staff will be glad to provide the patient with an appropriate referral.

  • Do I have to use the Physical Therapy group or Therapist my doctor prescribed for me.

No, but it is recommended that the patient consult with the referring physician regarding his/her selection of physical therapy clinic, as there may be a specific reason as to his/her choice of referral. It is otherwise the patient’s right to go to whichever physical therapy practice he or she prefers.

  • How do I know if Physical Therapy is what I need?

If you are not certain as to whether your condition is appropriate for physical therapy, you can either contact a physical therapy clinic and ask a physical therapist if your condition is appropriate for a physical therapy evaluation, or you can consult with your primary care provider.

  • Do you accept my insurance?

We are out of network with all insurance companies except for Medicare and we will file with all insurance companies .  Once we have your insurance information, we will verify and discuss with you your benefits.

Treatment

  • What should I bring to my first visit?

It is recommended that you download and complete each of the required forms that are included in the “Patient Forms” section, as this will expedite your visit. If you are filing with insurance, you should also bring in a copy of your insurance card. If you happen to have a physician referral, you should also bring that to your first visit.

  • What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit will consist of a 55 minute comprehensive evaluation. Your current condition and symptoms will be discussed at length with your physical therapist, as well as your medical history. In addition to evaluating and assessing your current status, your goals will also be discussed with the physical therapist.

  • What should I wear?

Loose-fitting clothing is recommended. Men are advised to wear loose-fitting athletic shorts, preferably with an elastic waist band, and women are advised to wear loose-fitting athletic shorts, as well as a sports bra/cammisol, so that the entire body can be assessed and evaluated

  • What type of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of payment: all credit cards, check, and cash.
